Florencio Villatoro Castillo has been cultivating coffee since the age of 13. His father gave him a small lot of space as a gift to start his own coffee farming operation. From the age of 13 until he turned 25 years old, he was also working alongside of his father at Finca La Esperanza. Since 25, he’s been increasing his production, his quality, and his impact uninterrupted. Finca El Diamante is located in a remote valley near to the small town Agua Dulce, in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. Florencio and his wife Lesvia have been blessed with 4 children, Maikel, Riner, Yelsin and Danita. He also has 5 grandchildren. His entire family is heavily involved with life at the farm. It’s truly a family business and we’re grateful to partner with them and support them in a tangible way. Florencio loves to watch soccer in his community and spends the small amount of free time available investing in his family.
Coffees from El Diamante have been submitted under “VILLAURE” or “La Esperanza” name for the COE in the past. Villaure is the family brand and La Esperanza is the name of the very first lot Florencio and Aurelio’s father had. Florencio is on crutches and has been for years but it does not slow him down. He gets around in a motorcross bike in places you wouldn’t think a motor bike could ever go! His son is stepping up and has taken interest so there is a bright future for El Diamante.
